Three Shamrocks advance to Cross Country States
At the Regional cross country Meet Saturday 10/26, with the top 3 teams advancing to the state finals, the Portland St. Patrick boys cross country team was ranked 4th only 10 points behind the 3rd place Tri-unity Christian. As a team the boys peaked for the season with an incredible effort and huge time improvements for many. TJ Chamberlain led the boys, finishing in 6th place, with a time of 17:12 earning a trip to the state finals as an individual. Isaac FoxElster finished 15th, moving up 1 point, improving his PR by 19 seconds, breaking 18 minutes at 17:56 earning a trip to the state finals as an individual. Levi Knoop moved up 8 points, finishing 30th, lowering his PR by a whopping 35 seconds at 19:16. Francis Austen, struggling for the last week and a half with illness, ran 19:59. Nathan Fears, peaking at the perfect time, moved up an incredible 17 points and lowered his PR by an amazing 21 seconds at 20:07. Patrick Austen finished 6th for the team as the potential tie breaker if needed, moved up an amazing 14 points and lowered his PR by 16 seconds at 21:45. Nick Pung moved up a huge 13 places, finishing just off his PR at 21:58. This was a truly incredible team effort that should have moved the entire team to the state finals, if you were keeping track, those who improved, moved the team up a mind boggling 53 points, unfortunately the team finished in 4th place.
For the girls, Marian Davlin finished in 15 place at 22:21 earning a trip to the state finals as an individual, Lilly Anthony ran a gut wrenching, incredibly pain filled time of 31:17.
As a combined team we are sending 3 individuals (30% of the team) to the state finals next Saturday 11/2/24.
